Post AFO 6 review.

Well, AFO6 has come and is now gone. Jamie and I had tons of fun this weekend. I'm not gonna' give an in-depth recap of everything we did. But I will recount a few interesting stories. I've got at least one for each day.

Friday: Right from the getgo, TONS of costumes on day one. Met an old artist friend of mine who had a table set up. Glad to see she's doing well and found she'll be working at Halloween Horror Nights this year, which is cool. Jamie had a very interesting experiance, but I'll let her tell that story.

Saturday: As expected, the most crowded day. Again, TONS of costumes! The cosplay contest was pretty good. I still wonder sometimes about the production level of it. It could be done so much better. I'm sorry, but even in a small theatre venue that holds only about 1,000, you should mic people who are actually singing or saying lines during thier cosplay! Thier music, if they have it, ends up drowning them out! Other than that, one of the panels we tried to attend was canceled and the fire alarm went of in the middle of another. Very odd, but still fun.

Sunday: Things began to come down. Still lots of costumes, due to the costume contest taking place that evening. Jamie wore her costume into the contest so she could get the experiance of being in the contest for a change. Again, I'll let her tell that story. The AMV contest, which is by far one of my favorite parts of anime cons in general, was great. I was particularly psyched that one of the AMV winners was a video which featured visuals from "Wolf's Rain" because the music to it was Metallica's "Of wolf and man"!! Later they finally aired thier parody version of MXC, which was supposed to air Saturday night. I tried to get an ECW chant going as one of the hosts first used a Tommy Dreamer style DDT on a guy, then later got powerbombed by a guy thru a flaming "table". My chant didn't go over. ~_~

All in all, I have four comments to give.

+: The guests actually seemed to enjoy thier time at the con this year. Typically, you can tell when they're faking thier happiness, but I couldn't see it this time. It made thier panels more entertaining.

-: CROWDING!! I'm starting to wonder if maybe they'll need a bigger venue next year, especially for the dealers' room. There were times when you could barely get around in there.

-: The dealers' room itself was disappointing this year. 65% of what was being sold was Manga and very little DVD content at all. As much as I do like reading Manga, I like watching my Anime too.

X: Typical Florida weather made things intersting, that's all I'll say about that. And I was kinda' disappointed at the fact that my friend Kayla wasn't able to make it due to a prior comitment and financial reasons. Would've been nice to meet her in person finally.

Don't let my negative comments fool you, I had a great time. I just see ways of improving things there. Finally, I offer this. My....
